Our History

The vision for the Pregnancy Help Center began over twenty years ago when a Christian family, after listening to the Marlin Moaddoux radio talk show "Point of View", became burdened to enter the fight to end abortion in our country. After formulating a plan, they appealed to their pastor at Birchman Baptist Church for support. Birchman Pro-Life Ministries was born, to give oversight and direction to what was called in those days to a "crisis pregnancy center." Other believers from Birchman caught the vision, as well as Christians from other area churches linked arms to take a stand and make a difference.

As a result, the PHC opened its doors in 1983 as a 501c(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to helping women and their children in Fort Worth and the surrounding area. WIth a mission of ministry to the whole woman, the PHC provides for the whole woman, the PHC center provides for a woman's physical, emotional and spiritual needs, offering her hope and wholeness through the truth of Jesus Christ. Over the years God has been faithful to provide men and women to staff a variety of volunteer and paid positions. Everyone working at the Center has training from a biblical foundation in order to best meet the variety of needs for those clients seeking help.

The PHC is governed by a Board of Directors and staffed by a salaried Executive Director and paid Nurse Manager who coordinate the activities of over 40 volunteers. The dedicated PHC team endeavors to meet the full spectrum of needs for the clients through various programs and services. At the time of our 20th anniversary celebration in 2006, the PHC had ministered to 29,375 women. Since 2007, the Center has seen more than 30,000 women. Those women who have made a profession of faith in Christ number about 580. Subsequently, many entire families have been changed as fruit of the ministry; these women having dedicated themselves to obedience to God's plan for their lives. (Though the overall number reflects a percentage of repeat clients, the staff believes that when a woman returns for help there is an even better opportunity to invest the Gospel in that woman's life). FInally, the PHC has tracked the birth of 4,873 babies since our opening day!!

In 2004, a sonogram machine was donated, giving the PHC the exciting opportunity to further expand its services. Then an anonymous donor gave $27,000 for the ongoing operation of the ultrasound services. This amazing technology clearly reveals the truth that life begins at conception and with its use the Lord sees fit to move many abortion-minded women from seeking death to choosing life. The significance of the Center's sonogram service can not be overstated.

Late in the summer of 2007, in partnership with Focus on the Family, the PHC purchased a new state-of-the-art sonogram machine, allowing the Board, Executive Director, Nurse Manager and volunteers to continue their efforts to provide the best possible ministry of life to those women and their babies in our area who are in need of a real and tangible outreach of the Gospel's life changing message.

It is the earnest prayer of the PHC that God will continue to allow us to reach many women, their children and families with the practical outworking of His love through our pro-life ministries well into the 21st century, in order that God's name would be glorified and people's lives saved and changed!
